About Me
I am a Country Music singer/songwriter from Leicester, England. I was raised in Coalville, an ex-coal mining town where I was introduced to the music of Elvis Presley, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Diamond, Tom Jones and Johnny Cash - working class singers who made it big through sheer talent and graft. I am proud of my roots.
During the 90s I was lead singer in a local indie band but I put down my guitar around 2001-2022 to concentrate on other things. The biggest influences on my own music now are probably Billy Bragg, Johnny Cash, Bruce Springsteen, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan and Paul Heaton though there are many others.
I picked up my guitar again during the pandemic and once it was over I joined a local country band and developed an appreciation of the genre. After a while I decided to go solo and started writing my own songs about the important stuff - life and death, love and loss. I play guitar and harmonica. The country music that I write is heavy and soulful.
I have gigged extensively around my home county of Leicestershire and perform mostly Country covers with a smattering of soul, pop and indie, along with a few of my own songs. I play gigs solo or sometimes with double-bassist and lead guitarist William Russell.
